A Word About Life and Things

More Than Enough

A man wanted to buy some land for a school. He had some land, but it was not enough. He had bought his property for $4,000 dollars an acre. There were 10 acres behind his property. When he inquired about the property they wanted $25,000 dollars an acre. That was more than 5 times he had paid for his land. He was disappointed and he did not have the funds to pay that much. He left it in God’s hands and kept thanking God that He would provide. Three years later a man knocked on his door. He was a man from the Government. He had never told anyone that he needed land. The Government man told the man that there was 120 acres across the street from him and it had 9 buildings on it. It had been foreclosed on 5 times. He said that he had been authorized to get rid of it and to make him an offer. The land alone would have been worth $3,000,000 million dollars, not counting the 9 buildings. Our man said “I’ll give you $200,000 thousand dollars”. The Government man said “you have a deal” and shook his hand.

Jesus was ministering to a large crowed of people. It was nearing evening and the disciples wanted to send them away so they go and buy some food. Jesus said “you feed them.” The disciples said “we only have five loaves and two fish.” Jesus said “Bring them here to Me.” Jesus blessed the loves and fish and then had the disciples serve the food to everyone. There were five thousand men. With the women and the children there had to be more that fifteen thousand people.  When the disciples gathered what was left, the were twelve baskets of food left over.

God is very precise in everything He does. But when He decides to bless someone He goes overboard. He does not give us “just enough.” He likes to pour out a big blessings. He gives us more than we need. Our God is a vary generous God, who loves to give His children big blessings and more than we need.

John 6:5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?"
6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.
7 Philip answered Him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little."
8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,
9 "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?"
10 Then Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost."
13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
