Gifts and Talents

          The space scientists at GreenBelt, Maryland were checking the position of the Sun, and planets out in space where they would be 100 years and 1,000 years from now. We have to know this so we won’t send a satellite up and have it bump into something later on in its orbits. We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life to the satellite, and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down. They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was a problem with the information that was fed into it. They found there was a day missing in space in elapsed time. They scratched their heads until a Christian man said that in Sunday school they talked about the Sun standing still. They found that Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy and if darkness fell they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the Sun stand still. They found that the time missing was 23 hours and 20 minutes. Not a whole day. They read the Bible and there it was “about (Approximately) a day”.

      They were still in trouble because there were still 40 minutes missing that can still cause a problem 1,000 years from now. The Christian man thought about it and said “ in Sunday school they talked about where the Sun went backwards. The scientists told him he was out of his mind. They read in the Bible about Hezekiah was on his deathbed, and was visited by the prophet Isiah who told him he was going to die. Hezekiah prayed and asked God to spare him. God answered his prayer and gave him 15 more years. Hezekiah asked for a sign. Isiah Asked “Do you want the Sun to go ahead 10 degrees? Hezekiah said “it is nothing for the Sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backwards 10 degrees. Isiah Spoke the word and the shadow went backward 10 degrees. That was exactly 40 minuets.

      We are always asking God for things in our prayers. We ask for help in paying our house payment, or for a better job. We should ask God for His help in paying our whole house off. Or we could ask God for a new business of our own, and not just a job. Joshua asked for the Sun to stand still. We can ask God for anything and the worse that can happen is He says No! But He can also say Yes! Jesus spoke to the wind, and it calmed down. He has given us authority over this earth. He said what we bind on earth will be bound in heaven. What we loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. We can come against a hurricane and other storms. We have all of the authority of heaven on this earth. We have the authority over the nations of this world. God said to ask for the nations and He will give them to us. We need to start praying for the bigger things in life and God will grant our requests.
