A Word About Life and Things

 Total Recall

We all have a lapse in memory from time to time. Where are my car keys? We walk into a room and try to remember what we came in for. We see an actor in a movie and try to remember his name. We see someone on the street we should know but can’t remember her name. Oh yes! That’s my ex-wife. Our minds sometimes get a little fuzzy.

Our brains are like a computer. We soak up everything we see and hear. But getting it out again is the hard part. We remember some things because it is related to an event in our lives. Everything is there we just need to call it back to the front of our brain.

Our brains are made of 60% fat. So going on a fat-free diet is not the best thing we should do. The fat in our brains is there to act as an insulator of electricity. The neurons and different brain regions communicate with each other by means of electrical impulses. Without the fat that covers the axons of the neurons, the impulses that transmit information would be dispersed and wouldn’t reach their destination. This way, the fat absorbs the heat, isolates the electricity, and allows greater conductance. This means that the electrical impulses are able to travel faster and more effectively. We should not avoid the fat in our diets. Of the fat present in the brain, 25% is cholesterol, which is essential for memory and learning. In fact, the brain cells themselves are responsible for making cholesterol.

When we delete a file from our computer that file is still there. We just delete the direction to that file an then it can be overwritten. God can forget things but only if He wants to. When we ask Jesus into our hearts He said He will not remember our transgressions as far as the East is from the West. When we start losing our memory we just need to ask God for Total Recall. We ask Him to give back our remembrance of everything we need. He will give us the things we ask for. He will give us back our memories if we just ask.
